AS3 task 6 re-draft final evaluation

I did a advert on the Samsung galaxy S5 and after it was finished I held a focus group to see what people thought of the advert, during the focus group I gathered some information and I will be talking about it in this blog, the main target audience for this particular advert was those who are 7 and over because kids around that age usually have phones like that so we would also like it to show the parents of those children that this phone would be suitable for them to use and the whole idea of this advert was to try and add a bit of humour into it which would have made it memorable which would have meant that it would always trigger something when they see someone fall or see the phone which could encourage them to buy the product.

After I had finished with the advert I had held a focus group to talk to an audience to get their feedback about how they felt about the advert to see if they had improvements that they would make to it and why, the questions that I asked them was things like "do you like this advert and why?” I did this because if they did then they would say why then I could keep those parts in the advert if I choose to edit it more and for the parts that they didn't like I could change for something else.

When I had presented the work to the focus group they said that they liked some aspects of the advert and would change other things, one thing that some people said that they would have liked to change was the music but others said that they liked the music and I also think that I could have asked a few different questions that could have been a bit more involved with the advert. Someone from the focus group had said when I asked them what they would rate my advert out of 10, someone had said "I think an 8, I didn't like the music" because it went "fast and then a bit slow", I could change the music into something that would be similar throughout the whole song and also flows along to the advert. Also when I had asked who they thought the phone was more suited to they said that "Male, I don't think it was appealing to women" so if I was to make any other changes to the advert I could try and make sure to get the actresses more involved with it than the actors.

In my opinion of the advert, I think that some of the more successful parts of the advert was the humour side of it, I know this because I asked the focus group if they saw the humour side of the advert and they all said that they did but a improvement would be that I would place a voice over into the advert so that it explains what features I am trying to highlight in the advert and I agree with certain things that the focus group but the pats I don’t agree with is when some of the other members of the focus group agreed with the point I was making when others didn't, for example, I think that the music suits the advert but others didn't think that it did.

I think that technically the advert was good because we made sure that the camera was always straight when we was filming it and that it was connected to a tripod for the majority of the shots so that the camera was always steady and I also think that the product was clear towards the end because we made sure that the phone was showed but until the phone was showed then it wasn't really clear what the advert was about and from the evidence of the focus group, the majority of people said that looking at the advert and the features that we highlighted it made them want to go out and buy the phone and from the feedback of the focus group I think that the advert was good but could do with improvements to make sure that it gets better. In the focus group I asked what would make them want to buy the phone from looking at the advert and the focus group was saying things such as "The finger print" "The main features that was outlined in the video" this showed me that I outlined the key features good enough to get the audiences attention and make them want to go out and buy the phone.

In conclusion I am happy with what we have made but I think that there could be a few things that we could make so that the advert gets better so I think that I am happy with the advert as 80% of the feedback that was given to me was positive so if I made the changes I think that it would be higher than that.

AS3 task 5 Evaluation of finished product

AS3 Task 4- Screening

In this blog I will be presenting my finished advert to an audience and then I will ask them questions about it.

What would you rate this advert out of 10 and why?

Did the music suit the video?

What did you see in this advert that would encourage you to buy the product?

Who do you think this advert is well suited?

What improvements would you have made to this video?

Did you see the comedy within this advert?

Over all from the information that i found out from the focus group, there was mixed opinions for a few things that was in the advert and they also didn't like that there was a title describing the features instead of having a voice over and the focus group couldn't agree with each other about the music that was used in the advert as some people liked it whereas others didn't because there was "too much bass"

AS3 Task 3- Sources of information

In the planning stages of making the advert we did some pre-production documents and a storyboard to set a guideline to what we should be doing, I will be talking about each bit in detail in this blog.

When we came to writing out our notes we didn't really write out any notes because we jumped straight into doing the storyboard and the only sketches that we ended up doing where the ones that was. The storyboards that we did was to be there as a guideline to what we would eventually be doing and it is also the thing that we would be doing so we made two storyboards so that we have a choice in what we wanted to do so we could choose the best idea that we would want to do.

We used the shooting schedule as a guideline so that we knew what we was doing on what days or what times so that the crew knew where to be at what’s days, by having this it meant that we was more organised so the production ran smoother. This is useful in ways because it meant that people knew where to be what days and what it was that we was doing but in other ways it isn't helpful because it doesn't tell us what specifically it is that we need to do and a way that we could improve this document is that we could add a bit more detail so that we have more information on what it is that we are needing to do.

For the risk assessment we didn't really take it out with us to do the production because we knew what hazards there were and what we needed to do in order to prevent anything bad happening to our cast and crew and this piece of document was useful in ways because at least if someone wasn't sure what the risk's of the advert was then they was able to have a look at the document to see what they where. Some of the improvement that we could make to this document is that we could think more in depth to see if there was any other hazards that we had not thought of that could put the cast and crew a risk even if there was the tiniest chance of them happening.

The budget was useful because it allowed us to know how much money we had to spend on making sure that the production and advert was the best that it could be but in terms on how useful this document was helping us out in the production stage, it wasn't very helpful because we didn't really look at it when we was getting the equipment and after we had everything we needed we didn't really look at this document and I don't think that there was anything that we could do to improve the budget document because it had all of the information that we needed on there so there wasn't much else that we could do to improve it.

We used the shot list in our production by looking at the different shots that we wanted to get into the advert and trying to get as many shots in there as we possibly could so this piece of document was quite helpful because it meant that we didn't have to try and remember all the different shots so we all we had to do was look at the shot list and try to put the shots into the advert, one way that I think that we could have improved this piece of document is that if we placed more of a variety of shots into it so then we could use more complex shot in the production stage.

We used the location sheets in the production stage by making sure that it had the exact location on it so that the cast and crew could find out where they needed to go so that we could get the production done faster and a lot smoother because we would have all the people that we needed in order to make the advert but if the cast and crew already know how to get to the location then this piece of document would not be useful to them, finally I do not think that we could improve this document any more because I believe that we had gotten as much detail as possible into the document.

The Proposal was not really used in the production stage for the advert so the document was not really useful to us at all in the process of making the advert and if there were any improvements that we could make to it, it would have to be that we could put in more information that could be more useful.

We used the Contact details in the production stage for our advert for getting in contact with the cast and crew to see if there was any issues or if they had any difficulty finding out where it was that we wanted them to meet us so this document is extremely useful because we are able to find out if there any issues or problems with the cast and crew been able to find where they are going or if something has come up and they are unable to make it.

Finally, I think that the most useful document out of all the ones that I have spoken about would be the contact details because without it the cast and crew wouldn't know if there was an issue with say one of the actors/actress been able to make it to the day that they are supposed to be acting and I also think that the least helpful document would be the proposal because I do not know how we could use it in the process of the production and I think that the one that needs the most improving would be the shot list because I think that we could have added in a few more shots so that it isn't so simple.

Adding humour into it- it is something that hasn't been done before

Not complicated

Easy for the audience to understand what is going on

Doesn't It involve too many people so it will be easy to communicate with all the cast and crew

Shows features that are new to the phone

It will all start off when the actor comes out of his house to go for a run. He will go to the park and see a girl, he will be too bothered looking at her and not paying attention where he is going and will fall over, he will then pull his phone and show the finger recognition, S-Health and the high quality camera.
